The Peeler is a famous West Country Invitation Sporting Club - first founded as an invitation nomadic rugby club (RFU) established by John 'The Bear' Rafter, Mike Rafter (Flanker - Bristol, England, Barbarians) and their brothers Kevin and Will in 1979. The Peeler boasted many sporting sides and turned out teams for Rugby, Golf, Skittles, Darts, Tug of War and Cricket. Always fund raising and for charitable events The Peeler has travelled to many quarters. The team became well known for their open style of play, their gentleman spirit and their post match festivities. Over the years many Bristol and Bath rugby players became firm Peeler regulars, and although time started to slow the club's outings, new influxes in recent years as well as the old boys are now endeavouring to make The Peeler an even more famous and stronger institution than it once was. A icon that will represent the West Country through true sporting values, bravery, flair, vigour and valour all with a touch of style!
